What a comeback! Meadows, and a delightful start to our second half of the Autumn term! It was wonderful to open our doors and receive such warm smiles! We are super proud of the way our little Meadows have happily returned and settled back into routines this week.

We have been on a journey around the world, learning about iconic buildings and their designs. Children have been excited about building their own houses, towers, and castles. We have learnt about the different materials we can use to build such as bricks, mud/clay, wood, stone etc.

Our little Meadows were enthusiastically curious about the pumpkin life cycle display in the science corner – they got familiarized with words such as pulp, stem, and fibrous strands.

Children are thrilled with the new building site area where they can manipulate materials and tools helping them to make sense of the world and understand the community around them. Constructive play is a fantastic opportunity for children to develop problem solving and social skills, as well as helping them to develop their fine motor skills.

The celebration of light

We have been finding out all about Diwali – the celebration of light! We watched the story of Rama and Sita and then did some role-play. We listened to the traditional tale of The Gingerbread Man, and then we compared it to the Indian version, The Runaway Chappati!

We have extra members of our class! Bunnies like to go home with children on Friday evenings and to come back to school on Mondays!

They sit and watch all week before choosing who they would like to visit. They love to join in with whatever children normally do at the weekend – they are   not fussy.

They have a special focus book to record the fun times. They  love it if children and their parents can help fill it up by writing a note about what they have done together, and by adding some photos or drawings.

Next week:

Focus book: Counting on Community by Innosanto Nagara

Have a wonderful and restful weekend!
