This week we have started our new project on All Creatures Great and Small. We are going to be looking at lots of different types of minibeasts over the next few weeks and even get to meet some farm animals when they come to visit our school – we are so excited!

Our story this week has been Superworm. We have loved listening to the story, guessing the rhyming words, and doing some bug hunting to try and find our own worms outside.  Repetitions and rhymes help children learn new vocabulary and develop their early literacy skills.

Next week it we are celebrating World Book Day! We will be reading our favourite stories in nursery. Children are encouraged to bring in a book to share with their class. Please make sure it is labelled. We also invite you to upload a photo of your child sharing stories at home. Children will NOT be asked to dress up this year.

In our maths learning we have been matching numerals to the amount of objects shown. I wonder if you can spot any numbers this weekend? Maybe you will see something in the supermarket for £1 – let us know!

On Friday children had a lovely time seeing the farm animals. There were sheep baaing, the Guinea Pigs needed feeding and the pony needed brushing. It was a fantastic experience to look after the animals, and to see the goat, the dog and the chicken roaming free on the playground. Please see our Tapestry for some photos.

This term, we will be doing outdoor learning every Wednesday. Please ensure your child has suitable clothing (wellies and waterproofs) on or in school, and of course named please!
