With the weather being so hot it’s been a week of true learning in the moment! Meadows have enjoyed lots of water play. We have been blowing bubbles, dipping our feet in the water, squirting water balloons and cooling off in the shade reading stories. Children explored different sensations, such as how the cold water feels on our hands and feet compared to the hot sand. We also learned how to protect ourselves from the sun and talked about the importance of drinking water regularly, as well as wearing a sun hat outside.

Following children’s interest, we have continued with the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, this week focusing more on the alternative versions to the fairytale such as Jack and the Baked Beanstalk or Trust Me, Jack’s Beanstalk Stinks!. The children enjoyed the twists and surprises in those funny and quirky stories!

We’ve been watering our beans and seeing some of them sprout already! We have learnt about colour mixing and had a great time creating different shades of green for Jack’s Beanstalk!

Focus text next week: Princess and the Peas by Caryl Hart

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sun!
