Children had a busy week after the half-term break. Welcome to our new starters that are settling in and making new friends – well done to all the children who have been so kind. Next week we will be sharing ways to be kind to our friends so what a great start!

This week it has been Arts Week across the whole school. We have been looking at the traditional story of the Firebird, alongside the Firebird Ballet by Igor Stravinsky. Children had a chance to see a musical puppet show and act out parts of the story themselves. We have also been dancing with scarves, listening to the mesmerising music and copying the moves of the ballerinas.

In our group times, we have introduced our Talking Boxes. If it is your child’s special ‘focus’ week, they will receive the Talking Box to take home and fill with a few items that represent them/ that they are interested in, that they can then share with their friends in their group. Every child will receive this box during the next two terms.

During our termly project, Me and My Home, we will be looking at different types of houses, where we live and what we use to build and put inside our homes. This week we listened to the story ‘This is Our House’ by Michael Rosen. The children loved seeing Miss Wilson and Mrs Campbell act it out inside a giant cardboard box! We also learnt about the importance of sharing – why not take a look at the book at home? The video can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wf_n6yjr9T0

If you have a photo of an interesting house that you would like to share, please upload it to Tapestry and we will be able to share it with the children.

Some of our families will be celebrating Diwali next week – if you would like to come and share some of your traditions, please speak to a teacher.

Next week we will be starting Outdoor Learning. Please ensure your child has a (named) raincoat and wellies in school. If your child has waterproofs, please feel free to bring these in too. Many thanks.

Well done all Meadows for a brilliant first week back!
