What a busy week! This week has been our intense practise week ahead of our big performances, we are looking forward to welcoming you all to see our fantastic show ‘A Miracle in Town’ – a retelling of the Christian nativity story.

Our Learning This Week…

In Group Learning we have been learning about the story of the Nativity to better understand our performance. They have learnt some of the names of the characters in the story and practising our dancing and singing during our learning time.

In Maths we have been adding one more to numbers from 0 to 10 and beyond if children need some extra challenge. We’ve been looking at number lines and using these to support us.

In PE we have been learning how to balance objects on rackets and to move with control.

Our Learning Next Week

In Group Learning we will be learning about Christmas and how it is celebrated around the world drawing on the short film ‘The Snowman’ as inspiration as he flies around the world. We will also be learning about some of the characters such as Santa Claus, his helpers and Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer.

In Maths we will be learning to add two numbers together and find the total through practical activities, challenging children by the end of the week to write an equation.

In amongst the busyness of our Nativity performance we will be running three Rainbow Challenges:

Yellow: To write a list of what our friends might like as a gift for Christmas.

Red: to create a decoration for a Christmas tree using mixed materials such as wool, tinsel and paper.

Blue: to add together two groups of Christmas-themed objects.

Important Notices

  • Could all costumes for children who are sheep or dancers please bring their costumes in now in a named bag.
  • So that our little elves have lots of things to wrap and pack for Christmas if you have any recycling or unwanted wrapping paper at home we would love some donations.

Tapestry Challenge

To talk about a special family tradition in your home and share some pictures or special objects you use for that tradition, i.e. decorations, special books, special food.
