We hope you all enjoyed your Tuesday learning videos and the learning tasks that followed. So you must be curious – what can we expect for tomorrow’s learning? Well here is a sneak preview!

Our learning videos for Wednesday 25th of March:

  • Welcome video: You’ll get to enjoy the amazing singing of your Reception class teachers, yet again and Ms B will model some ‘mindful drawing’ for the children. The children can then listen to some music and release their imaginations through their drawings – feel free to go beyond moving your pens to the music. Your squiggle could become waves in the ocean and you can add more detail by drawing some ocean creatures swimming among the waves.
  • Group Time: We are slightly diverting from the story we thought we would read (Rainbow Fish to the Rescue) as we discovered an original copy of the Rainbow Fish instead. This Group Time learning links to the red challenge, if you have already started it you can challenge yourself to add a shiny scale just like the rainbow fish has.
  • Phonics: We will be learning the ‘oi’ sound and practising writing three sentences that contain words with the ‘oi’ sound, such as “I cook with oil.”, “I lost a coin.” or “I need some soil for my flowers.”
  • Maths: for this activity we will be putting a range of objects into water and predicting whether they sink or float. For this activity you will need to prepare a space such as a container with water, a sink or a bathtub and help them to choose some objects that they could use in the experiment.
  • ‘Bedtime’ Story: Ms B reads another classic story to finish off our days learning.
  • Please save the Mystery Reader video for Thursday!

Your Questions Answered

Q. Can you upload the videos the night before they are due to be released?

A. At the moment we are not able to do this; we hope that the detailed summary (as above) will be sufficient detail to prepare parents for the learning ahead. We will ensure that we talk about the equipment/conceptual knowledge parents will need to support their children’s learning.

Q. Should I upload one picture at a time on Tapestry or a range of pictures from the whole day?

A. We discussed this today and feel it would be great to have a compilation of the learning from across the day, it also means that it is easier for parents as they can upload all the images or videos in one observation at the end of the day.

Important Notices

We will be trying to call families over the coming weeks to check in with you all, the calls will last around 5 minutes and will be from a withheld number – we look forward to speaking with you all!
