Alongside the glorious weather we have also done lots of glorious learning!

In English, we created our own Diary’s based on Ann Fine’s ‘Diary of a killer cat’. We had a variety of different cats including scaredy cats, energetic cats, hero cats, sneaky cats and many more! We worked on writing in first person and really characterising our cats personality and expression in our  writing. We started to look at how to use paragraphs correctly and implement that into our diaries.

In maths, we have been exploring a range of different concepts. We looked at applying our knowledge of angles and lines to 2D shapes. We identified that a square has 4 right angles, whereas a Five pointed star has 5 acute angles. We also looked at 3D shapes both naming them and identifying their faces, vertices and edges.

In STEM, we explored sorting animals into different categories and had a go at creating our own dichotomous diagrams to scientifically sort and identify a range of animals.

For topic we ventured out into Eddington, taking a walk to the lake. We were on the look out for local wildlife! We spotted a range of different animals including ducks, ducklings, swans, cygnets, butterflies and ladybirds.

Next Week:

In English we are learning about how to note take and using this to collect important information.

In guided reading, we will be continuing to read ‘The Wild Robot’ by Peter Brown.

In maths, we will be learning about measurement and perimeter, using the units millimeters, meters and centimeters
