This week we have been very busy finishing up all our learning from this half-term.

In English, we planned, acted out and wrote our own story about strange creatures going on adventurous journeys. We focused on using expanded noun phrases, powerful verbs and adjectives. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zmqh2v4

In Maths, we  focused on recognising the place value of 2 digit numbers.

Place value w7

In phonics we focused on the sound /oe/ and looked at different spellings of this: coat, float, crow, grow, go, no, pole, stroke, toe

This week, we discussed the value of running and we took part in the Friendship Run competition. This ended with a celebration with all Year 1 and 2 classes.

On Thursday, we were invited by Year 3 and 4 to walk through their Ancient Egypt museum. This was really fun and we learned lots of new facts.

Notices for after half-term:

  • Our topic will be the Great Fire of London, here is some key vocabulary we will be focusing on: Year 1_2 Fire Fire vocabulary
  • PE days are the same: please can you ensure all children have appropriate PE clothes and shoes that they can use for outdoor sessions
  • Reading records are to be returned by Friday every week and we will give them back Monday/Tuesday. Please remind your child as otherwise we might not be able to change the book.

Thank you to all Year 2 children and families for such a great half-term!  Have a well-deserved break.
