What a phenomenal way to begin our new academic year and our exciting new adventure as Year 1s! The children have settled in well and embraced this week’s challenges. We have been spending time reacquainting ourselves with our school’s golden agreements and practising applying these in our learning. We have been learning how to use the indoor and outdoor spaces safety and respectfully and getting to know our new friends in our respective classrooms. A big thank you to all our families who have prepared the children so well returning back to school and for your patience with all the new routines and procedures that have been implemented.

Enjoying learning in the outdoor environment.

Next Week

We are looking forward to raising the level of challenge for children next week, introducing structured English, Maths and Phonics group times.

In Phonics: we will be recapping the sounds j, v, w and x and applying these within words.

In English: we will be practising our handwriting and presentation.

In Maths: we will be practising number formation, working on reversals and playing maths games.

Important Notices

PE Kits: Could we kindly request that PE Kits are sent in at the beginning of the week and that they include some warm trousers and a jumper as the large majority of PE sessions will be outside.

Toys from home: A gentle reminder that toys from home should not be brought in, this is to avoid risk of personal items getting lost or broken and to increase hygiene.

Family Photos: We are creating special community boards in each classroom across the school to celebrate our diverse school community. As part of this we would like request a printed photograph of each family to be displayed within our classroom.

Sun Safety: We’ve been enjoying some lovely weather this week, could we request that sun hats and sun cream is sent in children’s bags each day for the time being.
