This week we have continued to explore the swinging 60’s. We learnt about protests and why people do them, we related this to current protests like the fight against climate change. Children then wrote their own placards to promote peace and love.

In art we applied all of our shape and pattern skills we have learnt over the half term to create our own 60’s inspired clothing. We used bright and contrasting colours and enjoyed being fashion designers for the afternoon.

A lot of the week was spent practicing for a sharing assembly. On Friday, we shared our 60’s learning with the Year 3s. We had a protest, showed them some 60’s dance moves, modelled our 60’s inspired outfits and sang a range of Beatles songs. The Year 3s thought we were amazing and we had a great time performing to them!

In math this week, we have been continuing with our place value learning. We have explored how to represent a number in different ways using dienes and other resources.

Next week is book week! This year’s focus is on character development and we will be looking at a particular careful in great depth…find out more next week!
