We hope you enjoyed engaging in the beautiful celebration of words and their importance this week. Our learning next week will take us to a very different world, full of joy, happiness and unicorns.
Welcome to Matty Long’s fantastical ‘Super Happy Magic Forest: Slug of Doom’. Our focus text for the next two weeks. Please find our Home Learning Booklet Yr 1 Week 4 here.
Here is a summary of the learning that will take place:
English – We will be exploring the concept of adventure stories, looking at the structure and key elements of this genre and creating our own amazing settings for adventures to take place in.
Phonics – We will be introducing two new digraphs which are variations of sounds we have already learnt – oy and ir. We will also learn four new tricky words have, like, there and were.
Mathematics – we will explore counting in tens and solving addition and subtraction problems from 10 – 100 using 10s. We will also be finding where numbers might go on a number line and counting out collections of objects that are grouped in 10s.
Topic – We will continue exploring the animal kingdom through science, looking at animal life cycles and habitats in more depth.
Art – We will have one art session this week that links with our English exploration of fantasy settings which will encourage the children to explore colour and line to create a range of settings inspired by Super Happy Magic Forest – Slug of Doom.
PE – We will have some fantastic active sessions provided by Mr Jackson and Mr Alfie which you can find the links to in our learning booklet.
