English: This week we are thinking about instructions, we are linking our learning from ‘Robot instructions’ to instructions we follow in everyday life experiences. Watch the YouTube video today and think of different examples of when we follow instructions? Today Ms Bates is following instructions in the kitchen from a recipe book can you guess why she might need instructions? You need to find your own recipe for something yummy to bake, you will need to write a list of ingredients and equipment that you need for baking tomorrow.Session 1 ‘Write an ingredients list’
Maths: This week, we are learning about counting in fives! Today, we will have a look at how to group objects around our home in fives, and then look at different ways to record our findings. Phonics: This week in Phonics, we have got some alien challenges. We are practicing carefully segmenting the sounds in words and blending them together. Every day this week you will start with a speed read of your phonics sounds on the sound mat, point and sound out the sounds, how fast can you do it? Phonics challenge session 1
Spelling: We are re-visiting our spelling practice on those common exception words, the ones that are out to trick us! Don’t let them tick you, you can beat them! Load the link for today’s spellings, look at the word, cover it, write it and then check it… How did you do? Click her for spellings
Reading: This week we will be accessing both Bug club and Get Epic. If you are not sure of your login details, your Bug club details can be found in the red exercise books given out and the Get Epic login details were sent to you via enquiries email just before Easter.
Today log onto Get Epic https://www.getepic.com, we have allocated you some books this week choose ‘Year Round Crafts For Kids‘ or ‘Create and Learn Crafts For Kids‘. Once you have chosen the book, look through it and choose a craft that you like and can make at home. Then read the instructions (you may need some adult help) to create your craft. How well did your craft come out? What would you do differently next time?

Can you find your own recipe and follow the instructions to bake something at home with your family? Remember to focus on those imperative verbs e.g. mix, stir, add, pour. Maths: Today, we will be practicing counting in 5s by circling groups of 5 and then using our knowledge of counting in 5s to count how many of each item we have. Reading: Today on Get Epic you can choose to read the craft book’s instructions to create something or you can read one of the robot books to find out some more information about robots.
English: Today you will make your own recipe card to share with a friend from the class. Follow the link to find the recipe template, you will need to include the following: Ingredients list / equipment list / instructions to follow and finally a picture of what it should look like. You could include ‘top tips’ to help your friends along the way. Session 3 ‘Write a recipe with instructions’

Sessions 4- Algorithms
Today you are going to revisit algorithms and how to use them. For this session you will need to download the ‘Bee-bot’ app onto a tablet or phone. The links to the apps can be found on this document: Beebot Algorithm As well as the instructions for today’s activity.
Today we are looking at how we can condense algorithms using symbols so they are easier to record.
Session 5- Creating a maze for you robot to navigate
Today you are going to create your own maze to navigate a robot through. You will need to think about what your robot would want too get to and some obstacles for your robot to avoid!
