We have had another wonderful week in Year One! We have been so impressed with the way the children approached all of their learning this week. They have worked incredibly hard and they have done brilliant learning.

This week we asked the children to imagine where they might travel in a magic box- they wowed us with the writing they produced! During Maths we have been counting in 10s from different starting points- we noticed how the 10s digit changed but the 1s stayed the same. In Topic we have been thinking about the emotions evoked by different pieces of music, we used colours and lines to represent our feelings. When the children were in Art this week they explored colour combinations and how to make different colours pop.

Next week

English: We will be writing our own stories inspired by ‘The Heart and the Bottle’.

Phonics: We will be looking at words containing different spellings of /ie/  (ie, igh, y, i_e and i)

Maths: We will be thinking about the place of numbers up to 100.

Topic: We will be learning about the Space Race in the 1960s.

Please can all children bring a plain white T-shirt or pillowcase to turn into 1960s fashions. We would like throughout next week please.

Thank you Year One for your wonderful learning this week,

The Year One Team.
