Good morning children and welcome to Monday’s learning activities – The Animal Kingdom, a phonics review and an introduction to time.
Group Learning: This week will be our final week on our Animal Kingdom topic, so we are going to be creating our very own Non Fiction book (with a twist) about any three animals from the Animal Kingdom. In today’s session we will be creating a spider diagram illustrating all the different types of animals we have learnt about over the past 5 weeks: pets, zoo, safari/jungle, minibeasts and under the sea. Today’s task is to draw or write three animals from each category in your red books – 15 animals in total! Are you ready for the challenge?
Phonics: This week will shall be reviewing all the phase 3 sounds (except ear, air, ure and er). Today we shall be revisiting j, v, w, x, y, z, zz, qu, ch, sh, th and ng sounds; recognising their graphemes (how they are written), and applying this knowledge to read and write them in simple sentences. Please follow the link to show a Phase 3 Sound Mat and Pictures for Sentence Writing (Part 5 in the video).
Maths: This week we are introducing the concept of time. Today we shall be looking at Ms B’s daily routine looking what activities she does in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening and at night time. Today’s activity is to draw pictures and write labels of the different activities you do in your morning, afternoon, evening and at night time routine. Is your routine similar or different to Ms B’s?
Story time: Well, we would like you to choose your favourite story you have at home and share it in the evening with your grown ups. You may want to pretend you are the teacher and read it to your ‘class’ of animals or toys. Can you explain why this book is your favourite to your grownups?
Rainbow Challenges: to support your rainbow challenges we are attaching the ‘Challenge Signs’ like the ones we usually use in class, we hope this resource is helpful, you can find them here.
Have a brilliant day and we look forward to seeing all of your fantastic learning! Remember to try your best but most importantly remember to have fun!
